rj and pita 7_11

Say hey (hay) to R.J. and his buddy Pita. The heat hasn’t gotten to them – yet – but they are demanding more carrots and baths. Can’t blame them. No, RJ isn’t really small – Pita is about 16.2.

Farm life when it’s 100 degrees, is a little slower and everyone and everything can be a bit more grumpy. Even me. (yeah, I know you are all rolling around laughing and snorting). The cats are exhibiting the laid out flat look. The dogs are begging for cracked ice…………yes they are spoiled. The only one not being a prima dona is young Miss Macha. I think once she sees how the act works for everyone else, she’ll perfect her requests.

Despite the heat, Macha and I are training. She loves to play and thinks that is what life is about. She really does have the right attitude…..make it a game and it goes by very fast. Michelle B makes the BEST victim for our searches. Macha sniffs her out almost anywhere she hides. Go Macha!

The only hickup has been when the main floor AC compressor died at 102 degrees. Fortunately for me, my amazing HVAC guy had me back up and running in about 12 hours. Comfort Zone Heating & Cooling – you are the best!!!

Regan Rose

regan rose 7_10_11

The lovely lady in this picture is my black Rose….. so nicknamed because at one time I had no less than 3 horses here at the barn, named Rose something. She’s been the lucky ducky hauling me around before, during and after two surgeries and various training techniques. She has the patience of a saint and the comfort of a sofa.

To her total surprise (and mine), she can now bend her neck at the poll. She has curve and I don’t just mean across the rump. She can lift and bend and trot at the same time!! Woohoo!!

Good news too – I was given a product to test on one of my bug sensitive ponies (Cello) and it WORKS!!!!! I mean it actually WORKS!!!!!

Try the Avon Skin So Soft BUG GUARD PLUS Insect Repellent towelette

Cello is a skin sensitive chestnut whimp and one wipedown with towlettes in the a.m. keeps him pasture happy. (and therefore, me too!!)

Finding my bravado

anteaters

Wow – you know how some weeks and months can just be, well……challenging?? Right, smack in the middle of it here!
Without elaborating at this time, I lost my beloved german shepherd Trey on 6/25 and then on 6/27, the old farm dog Stripey – who adored Trey almost as much as I did, simply could not go on without him. Lovely pictures and memorials will come another day, when I don’t burst into tears and sob when I look at their pics.

I have returned to riding. I am looking for my Bravado – which was apparently scooped up with the other garbage in the arena when I crashed into the wall last October. I scrape up bits and pieces of it everytime I ride and challenge my horse – thereby challenging myself. Well I’m into working gaits now and thinking about lateral work and totally concentrated on the riding and not the memories. Yippee!!

Hope everyone’s Holiday was a happy one. Mine was filled with farm, fun and family – which are all not necessarily the same thing. All farm owners out there – what is it with people who *just want to drop by for a minute* that they don’t understand – NO – because it requires copious amounts for work to just prepare for the city peoples drop-by??????.
